Is RED DEAD 2 too much?

Like the rest of the gaming world I have also been gripped by Rockstars recent newest release, oh what a game it is, and the level of detail is unbelievable. I mean we all heard about the horse testicles shrinking in the cold, but is it too much?

Let me explain. Its not that I don't appreciate what Rockstar have done; the world they have built the narrative they crafted and the emersion that come from it but was there any need to model my horses private parts accurately, did they put precious development time into this rather than improving the tired aiming system.

I'm not sure how much you know about game development periods, and to be honest I'm not sure how much I know, but they are tight I mean extremely tight. Sure 2 maybe 3 years sounds like a hell of a long time but think about what they have to do in that time, the modelling and movement of character, animals and trees in different weather conditions, lighting, texturing, sound design, sound recording, ADR, music composition and recording. Before we even get to modern day extras such as snow and mud movements, water physics, advanced sky boxes, hair and fur movements etc... etc... etc...

So why oh why would you add more things to that like the afore mention horse parts, it doesn't add to the game in any way, it doesn't enhance your experience, no. I mean you could argue that in enhances the emersion slightly but, it doesn't does it. So what could of convinced the developers to spend time and money on it.

Honestly

It's this, this right here the fact that we are talking about it, still nearly two weeks after it was released, it's the reason it was one of the first things Rockstar told us after the game was officially announced, the publicity. To make people say "Wow, I need to see that." and then when they do they want them to tell there friends, family and people they meet on the streets

Now let me say that I get it, it works but sometimes I feel that game developer get hung up on these things rather than more important things, like I said earlier the gunplay in this game is awful, the only way to target enemies by snap locking to each enemy by pressing the aim button, the dead eye system helps this but you only have a limited amount of this before you have to manually recharge your dead eye meter. why was this not a priority, why did differential horses male extremities take precipice over improving the aiming systems that have barley changed since the last Red Dead.

Rockstar are good at what they do and the whole game is amazing, So close to a 10/10 that it pains me to not, but what really worries me is that Rockstar has this habit of forcing the games industry to try harder, catch up and step up ,but shouldn't they be making all aspects of there gameplay polished to within an inch of perfection so you can see those horse testicles shine back at you .Before you add all these extra extras and I worry that other developers will focus on these minute details in the future then on core mechanics.

Maybe I'm worrying about nothing, who knows only time will tell
